Tips for making Fresh Homemade Pizza Sauce:
Get the freshest tomatoes you can find. Local vegetable markets and well-stocked grocery stores are a good place to start. Any variety will work, and the more red the tomatoes, the better! Dont make fine puree of tomatoes, just Pulse in intervals for some seconds so it has chunky consistency.
Add Butter and oil together in a large pan and then add sugar and caramelized it. The flame of Gas is low or the sugar will burn.
Once the caramelization done then only add Pulsed Tomatoes.
It doesn’t look like there’s ANY WAY this will turn into sauce at this point, but it will – I promise.
Cook the tomatoes on medium-low heat, and be patient – they’ll slowly break down and get much juicier.
Season with salt, dry Oregano and fresh Basil leaves – don’t skip this part, it makes a huge difference in the final flavor.
More Ways to use this Homemade Pizza Sauce:
Me and My family love this Homemade Pizza Sauce on Homemade Pizza Dough, but it doubles as a great dip for Dhokla, Mathris, Papads, Toasts, breadsticks or also pizza crust.
I love serving this Pizza Sauce with a huge salad when we have guests. You can also make the crust into small personal pizzas and let the kids put their own toppings on it, which is super fun!
In addition to pizza, the sauce also works well with pasta. Just toss some cooked pasta, along with some sautéed veggies, in the sauce. Then top with some cheese and bake or grill the pasta till until the cheese melts.
I also make pizza toasts, pizza loaves, calzone, pizza puffs and grilled sandwiches with this pizza sauce recipe.
These are few examples, the possibilities increase with your imaginations.
If you love a White Sauce for pizza or Pasta, make sure to try this Homemade White Pizza/Pasta Sauce. It is my husband’s favorite and the one he always requests for homemade pizza.
What can I use instead of fresh basil?
You can use 1 to 2 tablespoons dried basil in this pizza sauce recipe. If you even do not have dried basil then use Italian seasoning. You can add 1 to 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning.
Are Basil and Tulsi the same?
No, they are not the same. Though they both come from the same family of plant kingdom, but both are different.
